The Mendip Amateur Radio WLAN Group
NEW COMMUNITY WIRELESS NET
Launch Date October 17th 2000

SPECIMEN "LAUNCH" PRESS RELEASE
It is estimated that today's teenagers in "Rip Off Britain" are spending up to £1500

per year on internet and personal communications. Provided at its real  cost, new

licence exempt community wireless networks now promises to counter this pernicious

financial drain. The roll out of the new Midsomer Norton/Radstock Amateur and

Community WLAN (the first of its kind in the region)  offers technically enterprising

youngsters of all ages a real alternative with access to a network at 11,000 kBytes/sec

now considerably faster than anything provided by commercial operators.

At 1.00 p.m. On Tuesday October 17th, TV "Tomorrow's World" presenter

Phillipa Forester will officially switch on the group's first wireless system by internet.
